Mindy Himler, DVM

Veterinary & Practice Owner

Dr. Mindy Himler was born and raised in Marysville, OH and is a graduate of Marysville High School.  She attended the University of Findlay for her undergraduate work where she majored in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and graduated Summa Cum Laude.
 
After graduating from Findlay, Dr. Himler attended The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2012.  While in Vet School, Dr. Himler focused her interests on horses and small animals.  She was active in the student chapter of American Association of Equine Practitioners where she served as President during her third year.  During her four years at Ohio State Dr. Himler also volunteered for three years at Animal Rescue of New Orleans (ARNO) during winter break where she adopted two of her cats (Gus and Reba) who were displaced by Hurricane Gustav.  She was also an active member of the Shelter Medicine and Surgery Clubs.  Dr. Himler was a Bricker Equine Scholar her fourth year and was funded by the Morris Animal Foundation to research thyroid hormones in ill foals.  She later published a paper in the Equine Vet Journal titled, "Presumptive Nonthyroidal Illness Syndrome in Critically Ill Foals."  She won the Gertrude Hoeger Biomedical Research Award for her research from the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine.

After graduating, Dr. Himler completed a one-year internship at Arizona Equine Medical & Surgical Center outside of Phoenix. She then practiced in NE Ohio at an equine and small animal practice before deciding to return to her roots.

Dr. Himler started Himler Veterinary Services in 2015. Dr Himler has always been passionate about animal rescue and in 2017 joined the board of Logan Country Animal Haven, now known as Animal Haven. In 2020 she became Fear Free certified and certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture. In 2021 she joined the board of Nikki and Nigel’s Hospice rescue. She continues to bring compassionate and quality vet care to the town she grew up in and has always considered home.

Dr. Himler shares her home with several rescued cats, dogs, horses and has a love for Boston Terriers. In her free time Dr. Himler enjoys horseback riding, volunteering with Animal Haven and Nikki and Nigel’s Hospice rescue, hiking with her dogs and traveling.
